IT ADVISORY - Introducing Darktrace Inbox Analysis
Good day team,
We are excited to introduce a new tool designed to enhance your email security: Darktrace Inbox Analysis. This powerful Outlook add-on leverages advanced AI to help you identify suspicious emails and protect your sensitive information.
How does it work?
Darktrace Inbox Analysis scans an email and highlights those that may pose a risk. It uses algorithms to detect:
- Phishing attacks: Emails designed to trick you into revealing personal information or downloading malicious software.
- Malware: Malicious attachments or links that can harm your computer or network.
- Business email compromise (BEC): Fraudulent emails that impersonate legitimate senders to request money transfers or sensitive information.
How can you use it?
If you suspect that an email is suspicious but need clarity, select the Inbox Analysis icon from Outlook’s toolbar (screenshots below)

A secondary window will open with a couple options:
- Analyze: Scans the email and produces a brief report displaying the email's security status. You are given the option to “mark as safe” or “report” the email. You can also close the analysis report and simply delete the email if confirmed unsafe.
- Mark as Safe: Tells the security system (Darktrace) that the email can be trusted.
- Report to Security: Reports the email in Darktrace for us (IT) to review.
By using Darktrace Inbox Analysis, you can significantly reduce the risk of falling victim to cyberattacks. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with this tool and use it to protect yourself and the organization.
Notes:
- This tool is currently available for users with a Terra Caribbean & Terra Luxury email address only.
- The add-on is only available for the desktop version of Outlook (not mobile).
- AI is not perfect, if you believe an email is suspicious and the system states otherwise, this does not give you the go ahead to click any links or download attachments in the email. Please consult with someone in IT.
- As a reminder; always pay attention to the sender’s email address and not the display only. Never click links, download attachments or forward suspicious emails.
If you have any questions or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the IT Help Desk.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
